Knife-Over-Roll Coating
For versatile stripe coating and higher viscosities, knife-over-roll coating is preferred.
Reverse Roll Coating
Reverse roll coating is best for coating a variable or uneven caliper substrate.
Gravure Coating
The gravure method is
excellent for controlling the coatings used most frequently in long production
runs. Reverse direct gravure is the optimal technique for low coat weights and
smooth coating finishes.
Coating Configurations
Stripe coating (web direction)
Stripe coating is generally defined as the alternating of adhesive-coated stripes with non adhesive-coated
stripes. At MTI this concept is further expanded to
include the stripe coating of silicone, emulsions and primers in addition to
adhesives.
Stripe coating at MTI is so highly refined that two entirely different
adhesives or different thicknesses of the same adhesive are applied side by
side. This capability is achieved with the most precise guiding controls.
